Nice to meet you!

Hey! I’m Monica, the creator of and writer for Monica Schmidt Copywriting. I’ve been working with passionate health businesses and nonprofits in marketing and fundraising over the past decade. Whether a multi-million dollar fundraising campaign, the launch of a new digital program, or the opening of a new health clinic, I found one space that I especially loved and made a profound difference in the outcomes: the words.

I was inspired to start Monica Schmidt Copywriting because of my son. He was born at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, into a world of uncertainty and discombobulation. We were getting pulled in all sorts of directions, whether it was for health, social justice, or our planet. I was scared. But despite it all, there was still hope. Nonprofits and brands on a mission for good made a difference, amplified voices, and cultivated real action.

I decided I needed to leave my management job in nonprofit development and dedicate my heart to offering all I’ve learned, and continue to learn, about copywriting and the power of words to help more organizations that are bettering tomorrow — for my son and so many others.

With a background in and passion for public health, I’m dedicated to working with organizations and brands to help improve the quality of life for all things. I’ve written for a vast variety of public health efforts including environmental and climate change campaigns, hospitals and large healthcare systems, clinical practices, research organizations, food banks, animal welfare organizations, and more.

I’m committed to compelling and authentic copy, and love finding what works for your unique audience. I’m ready to get people excited to be part of a greater purpose with your work and support all you do by finding the words you’ve been looking for.

Here are five fun facts to get to know me better:

  1. Being a mom is the coolest thing in the world to me. It’s given me new perspectives and motivations, it has let me admire the smallest beauties in everyday life, and it’s made me feel the deepest form of exhaustion and gratitude imaginable (often at the same time).

  2. The beach is my happy place. I love it in all seasons and especially love watching my dog run absolutely wild. His pure, raw joy is incredible to witness.

  3. l started college on the pre-med track but pivoted after a fascinating anthropology class. I was captivated by the social aspects of health and eventually received a bachelor’s in Medical Anthropology and Global Health, then a Master’s in Public Health with work in health literacy.

  4. I’ve been to over 30 countries in my lifetime. I was fortunate to travel with my family growing up and checked off 12 countries over three months through the Semester at Sea study abroad program. Traveling is incredibly fulfilling to me and I believe it’s one of the most important things we can do. There is so much to learn from others.

  5. I married my high school sweetheart and feel incredibly lucky to have such a supportive, smart, and fun partner in life. Laughter and time in nature are important parts of our home.

Let’s Talk!

I can’t wait to hear about all the good you do and how we can work together to do even better. We’ll talk about your goals, the projects you need support with, and the next steps to make it happen.
